About the Summit
The US healthcare system is a model of inefficiency on a massive, public scale. Despite healthcare expenditures topping $4T —closing in on 20% of US GDP—we consistently see disparities in quality of care and health outcomes across regions and subpopulations. One model estimates that health inequities account for more than $300B in unnecessary health spending and is on an upward trajectory.
The 2025 Downeast Digital Summer Summit brought together leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators to tackle health equity through collaboration and innovation. Hosted in beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine the summit focused on Innovation in Rural Health where we explored overlooked and underserved healthcare market segments through the powerful lenses of digital innovation, policy, consumer perspectives, and health outcomes.
