Christian Pean
CEO and Co-Founder, RevelAi Health
Dr. Christian Pean is the CEO and Co-Founder of RevelAi Health, a company dedicated to leveraging AI to enhance value-based care and improve equitable patient outcomes through patient management and clinical workflow automation. He is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon, holds an academic appointment at the Duke University School of Medicine, and is a core faculty member at the Duke Margolis Institute for Health Policy. Dr. Pean’s work focuses on developing equity-focused, value-based care systems and applying AI tools to musculoskeletal population health. His clinical expertise is centered on complex fracture surgery and reconstruction for post-traumatic hip and shoulder conditions.
Under his leadership, RevelAi Health was selected for the Techstars Healthcare Accelerator and recently forged a collaboration with Zimmer Biomet to scale the integration of AI in equity-focused, value-based surgical care models. Recognized with the American Medical Association Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award in 2015, Dr. Pean serves on the board of directors for Orthopedic Relief Services International.
Dr. Pean is a published author with over 50 peer-reviewed articles and notable textbook contributions. A leader in health equity, Dr. Pean’s research addresses critical issues in clinical care, technology, and health policy. His interest in AI encompasses machine learning for surgical outcome prediction and the development of large language models for clinical care integration. His work explores racial disparities in orthopedic surgery, AI integration in clinical care, health services research, social drivers of health, and clinical ethics, highlighting his commitment to equitable patient care and innovation in musculoskeletal care.
