Kelli Tice, MD, is a family physician with a background in public health who serves as GuideWell and Florida Blue’s Vice President, Medical Affairs and Chief Health Equity Officer. In this role, which she assumed in January 2022, Dr. Tice creates solutions that improve health outcomes and address health inequities for GuideWell’s customers and communities. She also has responsibilities in public health surveillance and served as the clinical lead for Florida Blue’s COVID-19 response. Dr. Tice is a key member of GuideWell’s Equity Alliance, an enterprise-wide initiative focusing on addressing systemic racism and health disparities for Black Americans.

Before joining GuideWell, parent company of Florida Blue, in 2018, she spent 17 years as a public health physician, serving in numerous leadership roles including that of County Health Officer and State Medical Director for the Florida Department of Health. Throughout her career, Dr. Tice has worked to address health disparities, including training physicians and medical students on the incorporation of evidence-based health equity techniques into public and private clinical settings. She is a recent graduate of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Harvard Disparities Leadership Program.

Dr. Tice is a member of several medical organizations, including the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Florida State Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, and National Medical Association. She holds leadership roles in the Northeast Florida Medical Society (President), Jacksonville Transformation Coalition’s Health Equity Committee (co-lead), and national workgroups such as the Health Evolution Forum’s Data-Driven Health Equity Strategies Roundtable (co-chair) and America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Health Equity Leadership Committee (chair). In addition, she serves on both the Florida State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) and Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative (FPQC) steering committees.

Dr. Tice received her bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University, and her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She is the proud mother of four young adults and loves reading and traveling.
