Matt Sullivan

Dr. Matt Sullivan, the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Advocate Health, has dedicated his career to improving patient outcomes and provider satisfaction through effective use of Healthcare Information Technology. With over 25 years of experience as an emergency physician, he is committed to high-quality care processes and meeting the needs of providers by partnering with teams to find the best solutions.
Matt’s educational background includes studying at Hahnemann University School of Medicine, training in Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center, and completing a fellowship in research. He is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics. After practicing academic emergency medicine for 15 years, he transitioned to an administrative role focused on quality and evidence-based care before joining the Information Technology team as the Associate CMIO for Atrium Health.
Throughout his 28-year tenure, Matt has worked in various areas including Operations, Quality, Implementation, Change Management, and Physician Engagement. His deep understanding of the organization has been instrumental as it has grown to become Advocate Health. His passion for excellent patient care drives his desire to enhance both the user and patient experience.
Outside of work, Matt holds an instrument-rated pilot’s license, has been playing the violin and viola since the age of 7, and lives in Charlotte, NC. He enjoys spending time with his twin boys and two stepsons.
