Tamara Huff
Orthopedic Surgeon, Adventist Health Sonora Orthopedics
Dr. Tamara Huff is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a mission to increase access to musculoskeletal care in rural America. Born and raised in southwest Georgia, Dr. Huff earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. While working in rural southeast Georgia, Dr. Huff saw the daily realities facing small under resourced communities. The community members felt forgotten by the rest of the medical system. In 2019, Dr. Huff left the security of a thriving arthroplasty practice in her hometown and founded Vigeo Orthopedics ®. She also returned to the classroom to obtain an Executive MBA and Health Sector Management Certification from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Through Vigeo Orthopedics ®, Dr. Huff increases access to musculoskeletal care by 1) providing comprehensive orthopedic surgical, clinical, and medical legal services to rural and underserved communities; 2) partnering with corporations to advocate for bone and joint healthcare in rural communities; and 3) supporting surgeons seeking to broaden their practice into rural America.
Dr. Huff is an alumna of 2 Goldman Sachs accelerators, One Million Black Women: Black in Business and 10,000 Small Businesses. She is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and currently serves on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Healthcare Systems Committee. Dr. Huff is a proud member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and the Links, Inc. She is married to fellow orthopedic surgeon and partner in adventures big and small, Dr. Oluwaseun Akinbo.
