Vice Chief Academic Officer – Transformative Solutions, Advocate Health and Wake Forest School of Medicine
Terry Williams, DrPH, MBA, Dip Econ, is Vice Chief Academic Officer – Transformative Solutions for Advocate Health and the Wake Forest School of Medicine. In this role he cultivates and guides scaling of initiatives between the Academic Enterprise, Innovations and New Ventures, and industry partners. Most recently he was Senior Vice President, Chief Population Health Officer – Strategy & Partnerships for Advocate Health. The Advocate Health population health enterprise is responsible for 2.3 million lives with 13,000 physicians in twelve (12) ACOs/CINs across 7 states.
Terry’s doctoral dissertation focused on the leadership actions, unique ecosystems and multi-sectoral partnerships in communities with transformative change that improves health, well-being and health equity. He is a member of the National Academy of Science Population Health Roundtable and a board member of several non-profits and quasi-governmental entities responsible for community development and multi-industry partnerships.
Terry is a board member of a joint venture with Best Buy Health. During Terry’s career, he has served as a chief strategy officer for 10 years, chief transformation and growth officer, VP at a national healthcare IT company, and partner at a national consulting firm with work in more than 200 healthcare organizations and multiple academic organizations in 25+ states. He has been a strong advocate for years for transforming healthcare and the journey to be a high performing academic learning health system to improve the health and well-being of millions of lives. He was actively involved in the National Transformation Program for the Jamaican Prime Minister’s office earlier in his career.
Terry has an MBA from Emory’s Goizueta Business School and a graduate diploma in Economics from University of East Anglia in England. For the latter degree, Terry was awarded a Rotary International Scholarship to England where he focused on economics and policy for 15 countries. Williams completed a doctorate in Health Leadership from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
